The 5th International Youth and Land Governance Conference in Africa (CIGOFA5) takes place at a time when land governance systems are under growing pressure from climate change, rapid urbanization, food insecurity, resource scarcity, and youth migration. Addressing these interconnected challenges requires not only strong land governance frameworks, but also innovation in technology, engineering, and sustainable infrastructure.
CIGOFA5 marks a joint milestone: it is convened alongside the 10th FIG Young Surveyors Conference, bringing together young surveyors, land professionals, policymakers, academics, industry leaders, and youth networks from Africa and beyond. The conference aims to explore how empowered youth—particularly surveyors and land professionals—can contribute to more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable land governance systems.
The conference aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union Agenda 2063, with a strong emphasis on youth leadership, technological innovation, and equitable access to land.
The main objective of this conference is to empower and equip young surveyors and land leaders through knowledge exchange, technological innovation, and inclusive partnerships for sustainable and equitable land governance.
