Protecting sacred Kenyan forests through a biocultural heritage territory

This short film showcases a Darwin Initiative project to establish a self-governed biocultural heritage territory to protect sacred Kaya forests and surrounding landscapes in Rabai, coastal Kenya. The film shows the importance of strengthening traditional knowledge, agrobiodiversity and customary institutions to enhance conservation and livelihoods. The project took a strongly community-led approach and was inspired by the Potato Park biocultural heritage territory in Peru.
