Land, Youth and Employment: Making Access to Land a Lever for Inclusive Growth

By 2030, 360 million young people will be seeking to enter the labour market, yet only 150 million jobs will be available. Against this alarming backdrop, the session Land, Youth and Employment: Making Access to Land a Lever for Inclusive Growth, organized by the Ivorian NGO Renaissance TERRE, explored how secure land access can be a catalyst for employment, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth in rural Africa. The discussion brought togetherAnnick Assahon, President of Renaissance TERRE and expert in rural land tenure, and Guillaume Sanlegbeu, specialist in land governance and coordinator with the PRESFOR rural land security programme in Côte d’Ivoire. The session was moderated by Innocent Antoine Houedji, Founder of the Youth Initiative for Land in Africa (YILAA), with introductory remarks by Neil Sorensen from the Land Portal Foundation.
